See that guy with the camera? That’s Andy. All of these photos were taken inside his house. It’s known as Victoria House Concert B and, since at least 2008, Andy’s brought the general public into his living room for performances by everyone from John Mann (Spirit of the West) to Tal Bachman, Wide Mouth Mason to Jesse Roper, The Grapes of Wrath to Steph Macpherson, Acres of Lions to Mae Moore, and heaps more.
For whatever reason, I’ve never made it to VHCB until this past week, when I came to see Caesha McCollum, Kyle Peddie, and Kailey Peddie.
This is Kyle.
As you can see, it’s cozy in Andy’s living room.
And that there is Kailey (Kyle’s her brother), from whom I heard about the show. We connected on Instagram, and Kailey’s gonna be a kickass YYJ Rocktographer someday.
That awkward moment when you need to switch on your amp, but there ain’t a spare square inch to move around in . . .
And now, some bits of people. Bits of Caesha . . .
Bits of Kyle . . .
And bits of Kailey . . .
It was a refreshingly unique shooting environment, Andy’s house was, and I’ll definitely be back. The talented local artists who pass through there deserve my support. Yours, too.
