From a spectacularly grand and beautiful wedding to . . . this.
Yup. I took that shot a month or so ago for Tyson Elder‘s 2015 Christmas postcard.
“How,” you may not be asking, “do you get glitter to stick to your beard so spectacularly?”
The answer, my friend, is hairspray.
Lindsey Blane, fellow Rocktographer, also shot at this session of utter weirdness, and nailed this gem. But, besides her phenomenal photographic skills, she knows that the secret to a glitterbeard is hairspray. Gravity takes care of the rest.
Glitter. Tastes good, and good for you!
And that’s how we ended up with shots like these (note the gold-glittered eyebrows).
My friend Tyson is quite a guy. Not only does he follow through with the crazy ideas he comes up with (yeah, this was all him), he’s also the creator of YYJ Rocktographers, which is having its annual showcase THIS WEEKEND!
If you wanna go to this wonderful showcase of local concert photographers (at its new venue, Fort Tectoria) to support Tyson and other deserving local artists (yeah, I have a shot in there, too!), that’d be fantastic.
Visit 777 Fort Street Saturday or Sunday from noon–5:00 pm by donation, or come to one of our live music nights (ticketed, licensed, 19+).
The “Double Dip” (Friday AND Saturday night, 7:00-10:30 pm each night) is only $15, featuring live music by Gold and Shadow, Stinging Belle, Aztec, and San Felix! Or get single night tickets for $10.
Tickets to the night events must be bought in advance, so please do so here!
I’ll leave you with a misfire, when the beauty dish didn’t pop, and all I got was Tyson’s glasses catching the ambient light behind me.
Hope to see you at YYJ Rocktographers this weekend!
