Let’s face it: I’m probably older than you (if not, I’m probably younger than you). I bring that up to say that I’ve been shooting for a while now, and have photographically captured many, many different weddings, concerts, events, portraits, itty-bitties, rings ‘n things, products, and people . . . but I’ve never been asked to shoot a birthday hike before. What a great idea.
This is Christa, and this photo was taken on her birthday, on which she brought me along to shoot her and her friends on a playful hike around Thetis Lake.
L–R: Hazel, Courtney, Katie, Matt, Christa, Natalie, Jen, and Claire. And yes, as you can see by the attire and the environment, this was a rain
or shine event.
Everybody lined up for ye olde hands-on-the-shoulders-of-the-person-in-front-of-you shot . . .
. . . but what made it amazing is that Natalie’s dog Charlie put up her paws, too.
Can you shoot a gaggle of friends like a band of rockstars? Of course you can.
Thetis Lake in the rain doesn’t disappoint as an amazing spot for taking photos. Helps if you’ve got fun people with you, too.
The funniest part of the day, however, was when they sent Courtney (y’know, one of the smallest people there) to retrieve eight people’s worth of stuff from up the hill.
As we were preparing to (playfully) hike out, Christa found this amazing tree-which-looks-very-much-like-a-hand, and stepped inside to commune.
Happy flippin’ birthday, Christa!
