This concert was a whole lot of unique compared to my usual concert experiences.

Where there’s usually a security barrier and mosh pit full of sweaty young people . . . there were older, well-dressed people sitting in folding chairs who could get up and walk right up to the stage if they so chose.

Where there’s usually upwards of 5 security guards placed from end to end of the stagefront, along with watchers and managers on the outskirts . . . there was all of one security guard posted stage right to stop any madness the aforementioned chair-seated audience wanted to cause.

Where there’s usually anywhere from 4-10 photographers jockeying for position in the crowded security pit, stepping over barrier legs and around giant stacks . . . there was just Jonathon Howe and myself at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.

And, where three songs isn’t usually near enough to capture the entire feeling of a show, Blue Rodeo‘s songs are typically so long that Jon and I both agreed we were done after the second song.
