Once console’d, I ended up a Nintendo guy, simply ’cause of the nature of their games, which weren’t all driving, sports or shoot-’em-up in nature. The first console game I played was legendary.
Nintendo was the only ‘gamery’ in our house until last year, when a little eyeball with limbs poked its head in the door and started chanting nonsense. That was Patapon, seen above exploring Topaz Park. Friend Matt thought I might be interested in this new PSP rhythm game, and he was right.
Over the next year, I’d spend dozens of collective hours ignoring my friends, instead using their borrowed PSP to command my troops of cute little eyeballs to hunt Motitis, battle Zigotons and take down Dodongas with my drums of war: Pata, Pon, Chaka and Don.
Being the lucky bugger that I am, part of my amazing last birthday included my own PSP + Patapon. Now the house rings with chants of “Pata Pata Pata Pon!” well into the night.
=)
